What is GRE?
The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is a standardized test that is an admission requirement for many graduate schools, primarily in the United States but also in several other countries. It assesses a student's readiness for graduate-level academic work and is commonly used by universities for admission to master's, MBA, and Ph.D. programs.
Structure of the GRE
The GRE is divided into three main sections:
- Verbal Reasoning: Measures reading comprehension, vocabulary, and analytical skills.
- Quantitative Reasoning: Focuses on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data analysis.
- Analytical Writing: Tests critical thinking and analytical writing skills by asking you to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
Types of GRE Tests
- GRE General Test: The most widely accepted GRE test, which measures verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing skills. It is used for admission to a broad range of graduate programs.
- GRE Subject Tests: These are more specialized and assess knowledge in specific fields like Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Psychology.
